The highly-specialized field of Electronic Communication Device K9 scent detection is an essential tool in today’s rapidly advancing technological world. Learning the techniques to locate cell phones, flash drives, hard drives, and other electronics can provide responders and investigators with critical location information or contraband. The SEK9 registered M422 Scent Detection training plan designed to develop fundamental skills in dogs and handlers for detection of electronic communication devices (ECD). Handlers are taught to use the standardized processes contained in the plan for training canines to indicate the presence of the targeted scent. Upon completion of this course, handlers should be able to: * Understand Basic Behavioral Training Principles used to Teach Detection * Conduct Searches within a Variety of Environments and Distractions * Strengthen K9 Detection Skills * Be Prepared for SWGDOG SC8 – Substance Detector Dogs, Contraband Detection Assessment * Understand Scent Evidence Collection Methods
