Louis enlisted in the United States Army in November 1984 as a 16T, PATRIOT Missile Crewmember.

He has held numerous leadership positions throughout his distinguished military career. His duty assignments include:

  • Assistant Section Chief, A Btry, 1-7 ADA, Kaiserslautern, Germany

  • Section Chief, A Btry, 1-7 ADA, Kaiserslautern, Germany

  • BNCOC Instructor, FT. Bliss NCO Academy

  • Platoon Sergeant, F Btry, 6-43 ADA, Ansbach, Germany

  • Chief of ANCOC, FT. Bliss NCO Academy

  • Senior ADA NCOIC, USAE LANDCENT NATO, Ramstein, Germany

  • Sergeant Major, LANDCENT FWD, Bosnia HG

  • First Sergeant, A Btry, 3-2 ADA, Fort Bliss

  • Deputy Commandant, FT. Bliss NCO Academy

  • Brigade S-2 and S-3 Sergeant Major, 31st ADA Brigade, Ft. Bliss

  • 2nd Bn 1st ADA Command Sergeant Major, Gwangju, Korea

  • 1st BN 56th ADA Regiment Command Sergeant Major, and the Command Sergeant Major for the Air Defense Artillery School at FT. Bliss, Texas.

Louis Telly served multiple tours of duty deployed in hostile fire areas that included Bosnia Herzegovina and Southwest Asia.

He retired from Active Duty on 31 June 2010 with 26 years of active service.

Since his retirement, he has worked as the Senior Training Manager for all United States Army and Foreign Military THAAD training with IMPRIMIS Inc., Lockheed Martin, and the LEIDOS Corporation. He also worked as a lesson developer and intelligence system planner for the US Navy.

Louis Telly's military education includes: The Primary Leadership Development Course; Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course; the First Sergeants Course and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 54; the Basic Army Instructor Training Course; the Small Group Leader Training Course; the Antiterrorism Level 1 and 2 training courses; the Special Forces Operations Course; Satellite Communications Course; Hazardous Materials Transportation Course; the Battle Staff Course; the Civil Disturbance Course; TRADOC Developer Middle Managers Course; Total Army Instructor Training Course; TRADOC Senior Training Managers Course.

Louis Telly’s civilian education includes: A Graduate, Suma Cum Laude, of Grantham University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice/Law with emphasis in Homeland Security; the Lockheed Martin Training Managers Course and the Lockheed Martin Senior Training Managers Course; the Senior and Master Assessor training course; the Emergency Management Institutes Emergency Program Manager Course, Emergency Management Course, Radiological Emergent Management Course, Preparedness in Nuclear Crisis Planning Course, Hazardous Materials Management Course, and the Portable Emergency Data Systems Course.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (5 OLC), The Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal, NATO Medal, National Defense Service Medal (BSS), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal (BSS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), and the V Corps Distinguished Leader Award.
